The Cardinal Promise Mission

I did not start this mission because I had all the answers.

I started it because I lost my father.

Like so many adult children, I found myself navigating healthcare decisions, caregiving challenges, grief, and uncertainty while trying to do the right thing for someone I loved.

Along the way, I discovered something troubling.

Millions of families are making some of the most important decisions of their lives with little guidance and overwhelming confusion.

They are trying to understand dementia.

They are trying to navigate Medicare and Medicaid.

They are trying to choose between home health, assisted living, memory care, hospice, and countless other options.

They are trying to honor the wishes of their parents while carrying the weight of responsibility themselves.

Most are doing the best they can.

But they shouldn’t have to do it alone.

That is why The Cardinal Promise exists.

We believe knowledge reduces fear.

We believe preparation creates confidence.

We believe families deserve practical tools, honest guidance, and a trusted place to turn when they don’t know what comes next.

Most importantly, we believe adult children can become empowered advocates for the people they love.

Our vision is bold.

We want North Carolina to become the most empowered state in America for adult children caring for aging parents.

We will pursue that vision through education, books, tools, training, community partnerships, caregiver support, leadership development, and public recognition of those making a difference.

One family at a time.

One community at a time.

One next right step at a time.

Because caregiving is not just a healthcare issue.

It is a family issue.

It is a community issue.

It is a human issue.

And together, we can build a future where no family has to walk this journey alone.

My father’s life inspired the story.

His loss inspired the mission.

The mission is for every family.
